Weather Allowance
Typically, this is only included during the winter months from late November – April. A weather allowance can account for any delays to the tow while in transit due to wind, fog, and any other acts of God. During these months, Argosy includes up to 12 hours in your quotation to protect our customers from additional expenses caused by weather.
Lock Allowance
Argosy takes into account the average time it takes to enter and clear locks throughout the voyage. We monitor the lock status through industry updates and the Army Corps of Engineers of potential construction or delays at any of the locks we will transit. Argosy will notify the customer of any delays prior to the project starting so our customer can better prepare. We also make a point to include all lock times in our update reports every morning.
Standby time
This can be added upon request, but typically is left at 0 hours. Standby time accounts for the number of hours the tug is not transporting the barge from one place to another. Basically, if the tow is not moving, the tug is on standby. Standby occurs at the loading/unloading site, fog, windbound, and traffic.
